I have been absolutely itching to be outside lately. I feel like I've been basically housebound the last two months, despite the handful of times Isaiah and I have taken the baby out or the few times I've ventured out on my own. Of course now that Imogen is getting easier to take places and has actually been enjoying her stroller (meaning I can start going on walks!), the weather has gone to crap and we've had maybe two days without rain in the last few weeks. Story of my life.
Somewhat against my will, I semi-recently had to upgrade my phone to the iPhone 7. Long story short, my iPhone 6 was having major battery issues, and one day finally just died and wouldn't charge at all, leaving me sans phone. I like the 7, except for one thing. It will NOT stay connected to our WiFi. I have tried just about every "here's how you fix that!" tutorial I can find online and have yet to find something that actually works. Instead, all day long I keep having to go into settings to reconnect to Wifi. It's annoying as all heck and apparently it's a known issue, so why they haven't released an update that fixes it is beyond me.
I'm getting excited for fall television. Well, not television - fall Netflix. I just got an email alerting me that season 4 of The Blacklist is now on Netflix (if you aren't watching that show, why not?) and it reminded me that it's almost fall and that means all our favorite shows should be having new seasons added. I'm looking at you, Grimm/New Girl/Portlandia/Gotham/Fuller House/Stranger Things.
We are flying down to Seattle at the end of this month for a minor outpatient surgery for Imogen and I'm really nervous about how she's going to sleep while we're at my mom's house. Thus far, she's only slept in a Rock and Play at night, next to our bed. The plan was to start transitioning her to her crib in her own room by the time she hits 3 months old (trust me, I didn't intend to have her sleeping in our room this long, even) but this trip kind of interrupts the time frame a little bit. My mom has purchased a Pack and Play for her to sleep in while we're there, and I have no idea how she's going to handle suddenly having to sleep on a hard, flat surface, completely cold turkey. I'd really like to not have some crazy sleep regression but I'm bracing for it, just in case.
On a related note - anybody who has flown with a 3 month old baby, give me all your tips!! I already know about nursing/bottle/pacifier during takeoff and landing...what else?
Shots really are terrible! When Jackson got his 2 month shots they gave us the option of getting half that day and coming back for the rest; we opted for that. It's a lot for such a tiny person!
ReplyDeleteSurgery?? I hope everything goes well! No tips on flying, but wishing you the best of luck on your trip!
Aw! Those little bandaged legs are sad! She is such a trooper.
ReplyDeleteI love Fall Netflix! I have gotten behind on Blacklist and need to catch up.
Praying for the surgery and all of the chaos involved. 💖
Her onesie reminds me of Lisa Frank! I love it. You know I feel you on the shots. One of the hardest parts of having a baby!
ReplyDeleteImogen is so little she should be fine on the plane as long as she has milk and is held. Bring LOTS of diapers/wipes/extra outfits in your carry on in case the inevitable happens. I know she's not a fan of the carrier, but putting her in to get through security and on/off the plane makes it so much easier, and TSA will be extra nice to you.
I flew with Annabelle when she was seven weeks old and was a nervous wreck the entire time. I nursed her during takeoff and landing unless she was using a pacifier and didn't have any issues. She didn't fuss once the entire time. Now that I've flown with a three year old I appreciate the zero effort I had to put into entertaining an infant! I keep diapers and wipes in a small bag inside my carry on. It's so much easier to take out the small bag than try to lug the whole big bag into the airplane bathroom. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteUgh it's terribly sad. Andiknowbabiesanddogsarentthesame, but dogs sleep forever after vaccines too.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could pass our hot weather onto you!
I tried The Blacklist and didn't like it :( Grimm also got weird and I gave up.
Molly was terrible with her first two rounds of shots, too. World ending, purple face, not breathing, horrible. For her six month shots she didn't even flinch. Hopefully Imogen does better next time.
ReplyDeleteWe're partway through the first season of The Blacklist and I'm not sold. I'll give it a full season to decide. And Grimm ended, which I'm kind of glad of. It was getting odd, but I like that they knew where they were going. I hope you like it.
I wrote a post a couple years ago about flying with a baby if you felt like searching for it. It's really easy at Imogen's age. She'll be a trooper.
Ugh the shots are the worst. The not breathing cry is terrible, breaks my heart every single time.
ReplyDeleteIt is horrible! I hope they get easier for her. Not that she's old enough to know what to expect just yet...haha.
DeletePoor baby! Shots are tough. Here they will only give one vaccine at a time, which means you're in the doctor's office a LOT for the first year or so, but I do actually think it's a fairly good idea to spread out the shots a little more rather than doing so many at once. Hope the travel and the surgery goes smoothly!
ReplyDeleteSix always seemed like a lot for a tiny baby to me too! I usually have the doc split the vaccines up for me - so I'll do 3 and then come back for a quick appointment for the other 3 a month later. We'll see with this baby though, it's a lot harder to get us all out the door for more frequent doctor's visits now!
